Motherboards are divided according to structure and can be divided into AT motherboards, ATX motherboards, Micro ATX motherboards and NLX motherboards.
1.AT motherboard
AT is the size and structure specification of a motherboard. The size of this type of motherboard is generally 13in AT motherboards are now obsolete.
2.ATX motherboard and Micro ATX motherboard
ATX and Micro ATX are motherboard standards developed by Intel Corporation. ATX is the abbreviation of AT Extend. The size of the ATX motherboard is 12inx 9.6in. The main improvement over the AT motherboard is the relative position of the components on the motherboard. The ATX motherboard rotates the components on the AT motherboard 90 degrees, and designs the serial port, parallel port, and mouse interface directly on the motherboard. The connecting cable is eliminated, and the serial port, parallel port, keyboard and other interfaces are concentrated together, making the motherboard layout more reasonable. But it has certain requirements for chassis technology.
Micro ATX motherboards are basically the same as ATX motherboards, except that the motherboard has fewer expansion slots and memory slots, and the size of the entire motherboard is also reduced a lot. The size of Micro ATX motherboard is 9.6inX9.6in (approximately 244mmX244mm).
3.NLX motherboard
NLX motherboard is the abbreviation of Now Low Profile Extension, which means a new small-size expansion structure. The NLX motherboard integrates all IO interfaces, boards and power cables on an expansion card. This card has PCI and other expansion slots and soft/hard disk interfaces. When using it, just plug the card into the motherboard. This way The size of the chassis is made smaller and the disassembly and assembly of the motherboard are made very simple. NLX motherboards are used in brand original machines.
